4.7 million people in the UK have diabetes and a quarter of these people will go on to develop diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). At Podspectrix, we are developing a non-invasive medical imaging device that uses state-of-the-art imaging technology and machine-learning algorithms to prevent the occurrence and progression of ulcers. By detecting pre-ulcer states invisible to the naked eye and current assessment techniques, it will allow for simple stratification and management of a patient’s ulceration risk. Our device will save thousands of patients from the distress of wound care and limb amputations, whilst saving millions of pounds for healthcare providers.
