Rescue Winch

Nearly fifty people die each year in the USA alone, trapped against trees or rocks in rivers where rescue attempts are unsuccessful. Rescue Winch is developing a paddlesport rope winch which will revolutionise how complex rescues of canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, rafts, and people trapped against river hazards are undertaken. Rescue Winch will be deployable from the riverbank in ~20 seconds with a single person able to apply a force greater than 10 people can apply by simply pulling on a rope. Our design is compact, robust, low maintenance and hard-wearing. This is achieved by being simple, with minimal moving parts.
