How to succeed as a female founder
Only one in five of Scotland’s entrepreneurs are women, while start-ups led by female founders receive only two percent of overall investment capital.
These stark reminders of the gender imbalance in the entrepreneurial landscape, highlighted in the recently-published “Pathways” report by Ana Stewart and Mark Logan, provoke deep and searching questions about why this is the case.
At Converge, we place a high emphasis on diversity and in particular, gender balance. We’re constantly striving for gender equality. We’re not there yet, but in 2022, 37% of our applicants, 39% of our selected participants and 46% of our finalists were female, demonstrating that our efforts are working in the right direction.
Join us for a special online workshop with Lynne Cadenhead, chair of Women’s Enterprise Scotland, as we unpick why women find it harder than men to raise investment, and explore ways to redress the balance. We’ll be looking at barriers to success – both perceived and real – and talking about why women fear failure in business.
Also joining Lynne will be entrepreneur and crowdfunding expert Amanda Boyle, founder of Best You (Wellbeing) Ltd, which owns and operates the Scottish Slimmers brand.
If you’re a potential female founder, or already running your own business but want to find more success, don’t miss this workshop. And please pass it on to anyone in your networks who may be interested in attending.
Everyone’s welcome.
