SolOLED
Displays based on organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) show some of the highest specifications and performance. Consequently, OLED displays now hold a dominant market share in smartphones and smart watches. However, OLEDs have made far less inroads in large-area displays such as monitors and TVs. This is due to the high cost of production that renders this technology not economically competitive. The answer is to fabricate solution-processed OLEDs which are less costly and more energy and materials efficient. One of the bottlenecks is the availability of high-performance emitter materials. SolOLED aims to commercialise emitters that are ideally suited for solution-processed OLEDs.
